Spindrift

Spindrift, Water
Spindrift
Spindrift was composed on paper designed with a simple "z" pattern. The high horizon, looking down on the aggressive waves as they zipped into shore was an exciting challenge to me. I recalled the thundering sounds of surf and exhillarting sight of the spindrift as it ripped off the wave barrels. This is Nazare, Portugal, a surfers haven and home of the 100 ft waves. I used layers of prismatic whites to depict the white water and a soft cloth to pull off the spindrift. Pallete knife and scumble, thick and thin layers with a raw sienna undertone showing through in spots.
