This painting emerged from a place of uncertainty, a reflection of feeling lost within myself. The two figures, suspended in an intimate yet distant exchange, embody the duality of self—the conscious and the subconscious, the past and the present, the real and the imagined. Their gazes do not meet directly, yet there is an unspoken connection, as if searching for recognition in an unfamiliar reflection.
The veil-like fabric draped over one figure suggests a sense of liminality, a moment between clarity and obscurity. The fire in the background hints at unseen forces—change, destruction, or transformation—while the stark table between them acts as both a boundary and a bridge.
This piece is not just about being lost; it is about the quiet confrontation that comes with it. It speaks to the moments where we sit with ourselves, uncertain of who we are or where we are headed, yet drawn to the possibility of understanding. "Liminal Gaze" is an exploration of identity, a meditation on the spaces between knowing and unknowing, and an invitation to embrace the beauty of uncertainty.
