From the moment I frist saw the sunset on this range of mountains in Palm Desert, I knew I had to paint it. The mountain ranch glowed with a breathtaking radiance, stirring my soul and making my heart skip a beat. I carefully planned this nocturne to coincide with the rise of the full Wolf Moon in January, that fleeting moment when the setting sun ignites the mountains while moonlight quietly ascends.
The shifting shadows moved swiftly across the lower slopes, brushing the land in deepening hues. Capturing this ephemeral dance required two evenings of plein air painting, each sunset revealing new layers of light and mystery. Dusk’s Quiet Glow is my tribute to this rare and luminous harmony of day and night.
