Encampment 2025

I saw this scene off the side of the interstate. I was drawn to this scene by the large cottonwood, it's foliage brightly lit by the sun light as was the recent snowfall from the night before. Only after taking this in did I notice that a homeless family had sent up camp under this gigantic cottonwood. This was mid morning after the first snow. I was original drawn to the scene because of this tree then saw the homeless encampment. I wanted to create tension between the majesty of this cottonwood and the tragedy of our homeless problem. I wanted the tree to minimize the presence of the homeless family, indictive of how we, as a society, don't want to really see it.
