Botswana is a very flat country and the setting sun casts extremely long shadows. In "Last Light Lion" I wanted to use strong values to depict the landscape, then add the presence of a young male lion surveying the scene. I used a lot of pigment and water to create the soft effects and only added detail around the focal point of the lion.
