This is a common sight on safari in southern Africa - a small group of impala antelope standing in the shade of a thorny acacia, waiting for the temperature to drop. I've seen it countless times, but this is the first time I've painted it. My aim was to show the contrast between light and shade along with some reflected light on the impala's legs and bodies.
