This is a water soluble oil painting, with only linseed oil added. The scene inspired me because of the contrast between the near ground with the cacti and trail against the distant field houses and hillsides beyond that. I paid attention to the composition, with the sun hitting the trail that leads the eye toward the field with horses. I used different green hues for trees and muted blues and purples for the distant hills.
