Beyond the Shore

I found this little scene up in Door County and thought It would be a good subject for a more abstract approach. I used cold wax mixed in with my oil paints to give a more impasto feeling. After painting the background with a brush the rest of the painting was done with palette knives. The lesson learned here was to be more spontaneous and leave the area alone once it was painted.
